The Classic Story on Stage
Saturday, September 30 at 7pm
Sunday, October 1 at 2pm

Exhilarating dance talent is the essence of Dirty Dancing, the broadway musical adaption of the 1980’s movie sensation that continues to stir audiences around the world. Set at a family resort in the Catskills, this tale perfectly captures hints of the impending cultural clash that would define much of the 1960s. The coming-of-age love-story features the hit songs “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and the heart-stopping “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” with fabulous character drama, soaring vocals and exploding dance scenes. As London’s Sunday Express declared, “This crowd-pleasing stage adaptation hits the jackpot!”

At the Spencer a cast of 40 actors, singers, dancers and orchestra musicians, bring us back to the summer of 1963, as 17-year-old Frances “Baby” Houseman vacations in the mountains with her older sister and parents. Baby is drawn into the world of the resort staff, stumbling on an all-night dance party that mesmerizes her with daring dance moves and the pounding rhythms. She immediately wants to be a part of it all and is especially attracted to Johnny Castle, the resort dance instructor. Thus begins the transformation of Baby into a young woman as she navigates the hard realities and passions of adulthood.

Don’t miss your chance to see the premiere production of this all new heart-pounding sensation, technically and fully remounted from “scratch” on-site at the Spencer by NETworks Productions of New York. The respected national touring Broadway company previously presented the fabulous Elf, Cabaret, Ragtime, The Producers, Fosse, Seussical, Big, Sweeny Todd and The Full Monty at the Spencer. Professional crews of directors, choreographers, musicians, technicians and all the rest of the 100+ launching staff will be on-site at the Alto hall ten days fine-tuning this exhilerating musical for it’s national premiere.
