Performed by an absurdly talented cast of four, The 39 Steps is an hilarious who-done-it that’s part drama, part farce -- and definitely an athletic event -- with 150 zany character costume changes (some of the transformative changes take place in less than a minute), plus loads of mystery, metaphor, clever stage lighting, comedy and intrigue.
The story of The 39 Steps follows an innocent man on the run. The suspect leads a stereotypical ho-hum boring life until he meets a woman with a thick accent who says she’s a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon after, a mysterious organization called The 39 Steps is hot on the man’s trail in a nationwide manhunt.
The show is packed with shadowy conspiracies, clever schemes, nonstop laughter and bizarre characters. There’s also an on-stage plane crash, missing fingers, handcuffed comedy and good old-fashioned romance.
