Director of Development  

Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts
Ruidoso, New Mexico

Fulltime position

Reports to the Executive Director and Spencer Theater Board of Directors

Salary: based upon proven experience

Responsibilities:

Provide effective leadership and strategy in the areas of major gifts, sponsorships, grants and planned giving.

Grant application research and prep and follow-up.

Acquisition of sponsorships, corporate and private

Maintain relations with current and potential contributors

Planning/coordinating Spencer events, on-site and off-site.

Attend community events, Spencer performances and Spencer dinners.

Develop/maintain on-line donation opportunities.

Develop, plan and conduct major gift strategies and initiatives

Analyze and report fundraising results, donor profiles and fundraising trends to identify new strategies and opportunities.

Qualifications:

University Degree, college diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education.

Minimum five years in a senior fundraising role, and experience with major donors and contributions.

Demonstrated and successful track record of soliciting & stewarding donors.

Exceptional client service record.

Ability to think creatively and strategically.

Ability to work in a fast paced and team oriented environment.

Experience and understanding of web-based giving programs.

Proven ability to work with high-level donors.

Excellent writing skills.

Exceptional time management, verbal & written skills, decision making, presentation and organizational skills

Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising objectives.

Self-motivated, able to work independently, while also fostering teamwork

Superior organizational and management skills.

Effective analytical and problem solving skills.

Ability to network and develop meaningful contacts.

Knowledge of regulatory practices and requirements, fundraising standards, trends, legislation, taxation laws etc.

Developed skills in prospect research.

Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills.

Bilingual is an asset
