Pam Tillis
Presented by Constant Country KWES
Fri Aug 1 at 8 p.m.
Just one year after releasing her first hit single Don’t Tell Me What to Do singer, songwriter, guitarist, actress and music producer Pam Tillis was named the Country Music Association’s (CMA) Horizon Award winner.
Four years later, in 1994, she was awarded her first Grammy and named CMA Female Vocalist of the Year. She has penned many of her own hits including Mi Vida Loca, Cleopatra Queen of Denial, In Between Dances and Spilled Perfume. On the charts 11 of her original, shimmering falsetto-tinged albums have gone either gold or platinum, with six songs hitting #1.
As an actress she has galvanized audiences on both the Broadway stage in Smokey Joe’s Café and screen credits in shows like Diagnosis Murder and Touched By An Angel.
Pam merged her talent with that of her father (singer/songwriter Mel Tillis), recording a tribute CD called It’s All Relative, Tillis Sings Tillis. Last year she released Rhinestoned, a collection of tunes filled with the classic country sound she came to love in her formative years.
