The Mousetrap
Fri Jun 20 at 8 p.m.
Agatha Christie mystery, a Wayland University Theatre Workshop production.
Spencer audiences (which enjoyed Wayland’s past two residency performances of Art and Shadowlands) get to play sleuths at this season’s dramatic thriller -- The Mousetrap, a theatrical masterpiece that has seen continuous runs in London since first appearing on stage in 1952.
Set in an era before cell phones and TV’s, eight friends and acquaintances at the Great Hall of Monkswell Manor in remote Berkshire, England, are soon to be cut off from the world by fast falling snow. Before the curtain rises a shot, a scream and a radio announcer reveals that a murder has been committed in Paddington. Clues carelessly discarded now point to the Manor as the killer’s next stopping place in pursuit of two more victims of vengeance. But who are they?
Directed by Marti Runnels, the Dean of the School of Fine Arts at Wayland as well as the university’s Director of Theatre, the play’s cast & crew will be selected from graduate, undergraduate and high school theatre students from both the Plainview, Texas, and Ruidoso areas.
Order $25.tickets for this performance.
